The 1-Step 3-stage GL® Bit is a 1-piece Bit and Boss drill guide that takes the guesswork out of lining up the different sizes of bits, so you get maximum weight-bearing capacity out of your Garnier limb®. The 1-Step system allows you to use one bit for the entire length of your Garnier Limb®, making it easier than ever to install your new Garnier Limb®.  Used in soft and hardwood applications.

We charge $50 monthly rental fee and a $300 deposit.  Send the bit back to us (include your order# and name of person who rented the bit) and we will refund your deposit of $250.  If you keep the bit  for two months we will refund you $200 and if you want to buy the bit  the price is $300 and you just keep the bit. If your drilling into hard wood like oak we recommend you use a 1" bit first.

    For best results go slow

The bit was very sharp and I found if I took my time and backed the bit out of the tree to clearing the shavings it worked more smoothly.

    Drill Bit

Bit came apart during use. I had to replace the stripped key and reassemble the two bits. Otherwise, it performed as expected.

    Worked perfectly

I rented a 3/4" Heavy Duty Drill to set two Limbs into a large White Oak tree. I had no issues (weight of the drill made it interesting). The drill bit performed beautifully.

    perfect fit for your tabs

If you're doing a one time legacy build for some little kids that call you uncle, I suggest just renting the three stage bit.
If you're going to be installing many tabs then buy a new one.
I rented the used bit twice on my tree house and it cut like a new one

    Like Butter

Posted by Conor on 4th Oct 2016

This bit was amazing. It was sharp and when used with an appropriate drill it cut like butter. I rented a Super Hole Hawg for this application and it made drilling into my sugar maple a breeze. I even rented it over the weekend just in case and only ended up needing about 20 minutes to do both holes, setup included. My only suggestion for improvement going forward would be to include a return label and postage with the bit, I would gladly pay more up front for this convenience. All in all there were no issues and was breeze to use (especially nice having the piece of mind that the three different diameter holes all had the same center) would definitely use this in the future.

    excellent ...but be prepared!

Posted by JD on 29th Aug 2016

This used worked great...once I found a drill that fit this bit size. My drills were too small or didn't have enough torque. The rentals were either too big or too small. Kudos to my neighbor who had the right size.

    superior design and performance

This product-- the bit that drills the hole for the Garnier limb is thouyfully designed for intuitive and ease of use. I happened to use it yesterday. It requires a heavy duty 1/2" drill with a side handle for stability and a level for keeping it straight. It penetrates the tree in no time at all.

    Instructions match experience

The web site video and article on installation were very helpful as I knew what to expect and could visualize each step of the process. There were no problems along the way and all four GL's fit tightly.
